Keep Moving Forward Part 3

This week we are digging into three points we have extrapolated from a quote by Walt Disney. Part 1 and Part 2 set the stage for this weeks blog posts. Today I want to hit on the first point: KEEP MOVING FORWARD

“Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things - because we're curious. And curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. We're always exploring and experimenting.” Walt Disney

Sometimes one of the hardest things to do in life is rebound from failure. Some people personalize it and use failure to keep them from a breakthrough that is just around the corner. Let's just get right to the truth: As people we are imperfect, faulty, mistake-prone people. Our past failures build into us a mind-set that keeps us where we are.

That is why we must breakthrough this barrier by moving forward.

In 1996 the US women's Olympic softball team was lost, at that time, their second international loss in 10 years. Dani Tyler, the third base player had hit a home run. Or so she thought. In the excitement of rounding the bases, she accidentally stepped over home plate. The umpire disallowed the run. Because of that one misstep, the US team lost in extra innings 2-1.

The next evening, Tyler played well. Sports Illustrated writer Peter King asked her why the mistake hadn't seemed to become a mental ball and chain.

"Well, I didn't want to get out of bed this morning," she admitted. "But this is sports. One play doesn't make a game, and one play won't define my life. I've never been the best athlete, but I try to have the best attitude and work the hardest…."

If you want to break through failure, you must keep moving. You must get out of bed and grab life by the horns.

Proverbs 24:16 for the righteous falls seven times and rises again...

It is a process of life and we just keep getting up, over and over and over again. That is probably why Winston Churchill said, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." Keep moving forward, demolish obstacles and never ever ever give up.
