Journey Through John Day #5 (John 5)

Read - John 5

My Key Verse - John 5:19-20; 30-33 The Son can't independently do a thing, only what he sees the Father doing. What the Father does, the Son does.....I can't do a solitary thing on my own: I listen, then I decide. You can trust my decision because I'm not out to get my own way but only to carry out orders.

My Reflection - Are you kidding me? This is Jesus...you know, like, Son of God...one third of the Trinity. JESUS. And he says He can't do a solitary thing on His own? He sees what the Father is doing and He listens to what the Father is saying...and then He acts.

What a powerful scripture for us to apply. It is so vital to hear from God. It is so vital to see what God is up to and then do it. This will bring us much more success in our spiritual life.

Take witnessing for example. If people could learn to see when God is drawing someone to Himself, they could capitalize on it and be able to help in the process by leading them to Christ.

No matter what or which direction we have got to realize that if Jesus didn't do it all by Himself...how much more should we lean on the Spirit of God.

My Prayer - Lord, help me to lean on You. Help me to hear from You. Help me to see where you are at work. Give me the courage to act when you are at work.

This is interesting. It is so comforting to know that every trial we have faced as human beings, Jesus has faced. He has to rely on the Father just as we do. It makes me feel that much closer to him.

Good stuff - linked here from your contribution on YouVersion.Com. I'm working on a teaching for tomorrow called "Where You Go, I'll go, What You Say, I'll Say, and What You Pray, I'll pray" ... we must learn to abide and only do/say/pray what we see the Father doing.

Thanks!
