True Community

This week I am finishing up our "What If?" series with a message called Living The Journey. The main text comes from Acts 2:41-47 out of the message bible.

Acts 2:41-47
That day about three thousand took him at his word, were baptized and were signed up. They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers.
43-45Everyone around was in awe—all those wonders and signs done through the apostles! And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person's need was met.
46-47They followed a daily discipline of worship in the Temple followed by meals at home, every meal a celebration, exuberant and joyful, as they praised God. People in general liked what they saw. Every day their number grew as God added those who were saved.

Probably one of the biggest things a church can do is build true community. Now I'm not going to propose how you can do it. Here at Journey Church we feel we are going to build it through our Journey Connect Groups. These are going to be small groups of people who will meet in homes throughout the week and bring true discipleship and interaction with each other.

These groups are also going to link up believers also with a goal to impact their world. Each group may do that differently but it is going to be where we live out true discipleship.

When you look back over that scripture you see that God added to their number. At Journey Church we believe that happened because of the previous statement: "People in general liked what they saw."

What did they see...TRUE COMMUNITY.
