A Life of Worship

Last night we started a new series. I am really excited about it. It is called Unquenchable. Going into it I knew it was going to be about worship but I didn't know which direction it was going to go. There is so much about worship and you can't say it all in a service.

So the direction we are going with it is based on John 4 where Jesus speaks to the woman at the well. This is one of my favorite verses because Jesus tells us what worship is all about.

John 4:23-24 in The Message Bible reads like this: (highlights are mine)
"It's who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That's the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration."

I love that part where Jesus say the Father is looking for those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. So many people put on so many masks in their lives. They put on one for work. One for home. One for their friends. One for church. One when they pray.

So many masks...but Jesus says we should simply and honestly be ourselves before him in our worship. That doesn't mean only when we come to church and sing. Worship is more than a song and a service. It is a lifestyle.

It is us loving God with all our hearts, all our souls, all our minds and all our strength. Simply being ourselves and offering Him all parts of our lives. It is worshiping Him through our work, through our home, through our friends and at church.
