Working for someone who doesn't want you to get more knowledge than them, someone who takes every opportunity to cut you down, someone who looks at you like an adversary.....sucks :(
Seriously, you do not want me venting...lol. I have often thought about this and I am not sure whether I wish I never had worked for that particular pastor. Ouch it even hurst to acknowledge the title for such a person. There are certainly pros and cons, but definitely more cons when it comes to thinking about that terrible experience. Thank God its over.
It's a shame Chris that two totally different people could have the same negative experience with the same person. I agree...thank God it's over.
The one I'm thinking of was a pastor who "watched" my every move. It was intimidating. I always thought something was different about him. 2 years after I left he got busted for sexual misconduct by a counselor. Spent some time for it too.
For me...I once had a pastor that did my first year evaluation. After being there for 9 months we had doubled the youth ministry from 25 to 50.
The comment given was that we could be doing better. After inquiring as to what that meant...the only response was we could be doing better.
Very frustrating...especailly when you ask someone what "doing better" means. I asked numbers, number of volunteer ratio, ministry to congregation ratio, how much growth in those areas over a 9 month period is expected and required....response "I fell you should be doing better". AGGGGHHHH
"we could be doing better" hahaha I do not even have to guess where you recieved this evaluation. I recived the "exact same" words too, but the exact meaning was always elusive. So who evaluates him? Oh yeah...all the walk-outs are his evaluation.
